Childress vs Farve

Monday night’s NFL clash between the Vikings and Saints provided the perfect illustration of how a team can lose a game if they blink.  The Vikings’ Adrian Peterson ran the ball an average of 4.3 yards.  Despite this, Childress gave up on the run once the score reached 14-9 for the Saints. The ball was now in Farve’s hands.

One has to think there’s a battle of will going on in Minnesota - a balanced attack versus throwing the ball more.  Brett Farve has just-the-right-size ego to play the part.  Childress has shown that he can be influenced by his star quaterback.

Here’s the deal.  The first decision a defense makes (on every play)  is to decide whether they will play the run or the pass.  The offense will hide their intentions in order to gain the advantage.  Brett can sling the rock.  Adrian can pound it.  This team must commit itself to a balanced offense.
